This privacy policy explains how Atharva Karnik Financial Services (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit atharvakarnik.com, contact us, or become a client. We follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it.
1. Who we are
Atharva Karnik Financial Services is run by Atharva Karnik, an AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor (ARN-273845) and insurance agent, based in Ghatkopar East, Mumbai, Maharashtra. For any privacy question, email info@atharvakarnik.com or call +91 77387 25741.
2. What personal data we collect
- When you contact us through the website form, WhatsApp, phone or email: your name, mobile number, email address and anything you choose to tell us in your message.
- When you become a client: the details and documents needed to open investments or buy insurance, such as PAN, Aadhaar or other KYC documents, date of birth, address, bank details, nominee details, income and health information required by insurers, and your financial goals.
- When you browse the website: technical data such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar tools (see section 6).
3. Why we use your data
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a call or meeting.
- To understand your needs and suggest suitable insurance and mutual fund options.
- To complete KYC, applications, transactions, renewals and claims with fund houses, insurers and their service agents.
- To send you reviews, reminders and service updates about products you hold with us.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping required by SEBI, AMFI and IRDAI.
We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you submit a form or contact us, or where the law requires or allows us to. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see section 7); this will not affect processing already done.
4. Who we share it with
We share your data only when needed to provide the service you asked for or to meet legal requirements, for example with:
- Mutual fund houses (AMCs), their registrars (such as CAMS and KFin Technologies) and KYC registration agencies.
- Insurance companies we represent, such as LIC of India and HDFC ERGO General Insurance, and their service providers for underwriting and claims.
- Technology platforms we use to run the business (for example email, WhatsApp and website hosting).
- Regulators, courts or authorities when the law requires it.
We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiries from people who do not become clients are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact and then deleted. Client records are kept for as long as you are a client and afterwards for the period required by SEBI, AMFI, IRDAI and tax laws.
6. Cookies and tracking
The website uses cookies needed for it to work and load quickly. It also uses the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which helps us understand visits from Facebook and Instagram and measure our advertising. Meta may collect data such as your IP address and browser information under its own privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you have the right to:
- Get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
- Ask us to correct, complete or update your data.
- Ask us to erase your data, unless we must keep it by law.
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or are unable to do so.
- Raise a grievance with us, and if you are not satisfied, with the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, email info@atharvakarnik.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We will reply within 30 days.
8. How we protect your data
We use reasonable security measures, including password-protected devices and accounts and limited access to client documents. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive documents (such as PAN or bank details) through the website form; we will share a secure way to send them.
9. Children
Our website is not meant for children under 18. Investments and insurance for a minor are handled through their parent or legal guardian.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with the date it was last updated.
